El Dorado International Airport

Fly into Bogota's only international airport. It is very easy to navigate and has one of the best lounges I've ever visited, including a great spa if you need a massage pre-flight!

For those flying from the US, there are direct flights from Dallas (American), Houston (United), Atlanta (Delta), NYC (all airlines), and Miami/Ft Lauderdale (all airlines). Copa and Avianca have flights through San Salvador that are very fast and AeroMexico goes through Mexico City. From Miami, it takes around 3.5 hours in flight. From Texas to Bogota, flight time is around 5 hours.

Where to Stay

From the Airport

The easiest way to depart from the airport to your lodging would be the official taxi found right outside the exit at the Taxi stand. These taxis have meters and set rates and will get you to your accommodations quickly and safely.

Around Town

Uber is the simplest method of travel and works quite well in Bogota! You can also use other rideshare apps like Cabify or InDrive. For the adventurous traveler, Bogota has an incredible bus system called the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TransMilenio" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">TransMilenio</a>.

Monserrate, already considered sacred in pre-Columbian times when the area was inhabited by the indigenous&nbsp;<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muisca_people" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Muisca</a>, is a pilgrim destination, as well as a major tourist attraction. In addition to the church, the summit contains restaurants, cafeteria, souvenir shops and many smaller tourist facilities. Monserrate can be accessed by&nbsp;<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aerial_tramway" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">aerial tramway</a>&nbsp;(a cable car known as the teleférico), by&nbsp;<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Funicular" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">funicular</a>, or by climbing, the preferred way of pilgrims. All downtown Bogotá, south Bogotá and some sections of the north of the city are visible facing west, making it a popular destination to watch the sunset over the city. Every year, Monserrate and its neighbor&nbsp;<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guadalupe_Hill" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Guadalupe</a>&nbsp;attract many tourists.
